ELK Consortium is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business certified in 2019. Our goal is to provide to our clients an integrally networked team of full service Architecture-Engineering Design, Construction-Administration, and Advisory & Assistance Service professionals.

Our Story

ELK Consortium was the vision of the 27-year Veteran founder,

Curt Van De Walle and his wife, Kim Van De Walle, a Registered Hospital Pharmacist. Curt served in the United States Air Force with a career in Air Force Civil Engineering, including Design, Construction and Public Works. This explains why our Core Values mirror those of the Air Force. After retiring in 2014, Curt worked in several different capacities. He worked as the Capital Programs Manager for the city of San Antonio, as the City Manager for the city of Castle Hills, as a Principal at an Architecture-Engineering Firm, and finally, as the Project Lead for a corporate development team for the Air Force. During this time, he realized the vision of serving those who have served our country by improving Department of Veteran Affairs facilities and infrastructure. Founded in 2019, the vision of ELK Consortium is to create a team of quality design professionals and leverage their capabilities to improve healthcare for our honored Veterans.

Meet the Owners

Curt and Kim Van De Walle

We are Curt and Kim Van De Walle, both raised in the booming metropolis of Hondo, Texas. (population 8,000) Together we spent 27 years serving our country in the United States Air Force -- Curt in uniform as a Civil Engineering Officer, and Kim working part time as a pharmacist and full time as an Air Force spouse raising three wonderful daughters and making every house, all 17 of them, a home. Curt is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer with a Masters of Civil Engineering degree, and Kim is a Registered Pharmacist who worked primarily in a hospital setting.

Our company is ELK, but it’s not what you think—we didn’t name it after North America’s majestic animal. Our daughters are Elizabeth, Laura and Katherine, in that order, and were introduced as “ELK” to everyone we met in the Air Force as a pneumonic to remember their names and birth order. After retiring, we decided to start our own business serving Veterans and name it in honor of them. Which is only fitting after we dragged them around the world on Air Force assignments for 27 years.

We are passionate about serving those who served, America’s treasured Veterans, and committed to improving their healthcare through facility and infrastructure renovation, repair and construction. We do this by partnering with other Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses and high quality, experienced architectural, engineering, master planning and management consulting firms.
